Billabong

Billabong ist die Geschichte einer Marke, die von Surfern für Surfer geschaffen wurde. Es war 1973, in Australien, als Gordon und Rena Merchant ihre ersten Boardshorts zu Hause produzierten. Die Besonderheit ihrer Badeanzüge? Sei widerstandsfähig und speziell für das Surfen entwickelt.

Fünf Jahre später ist Billabong einfach zum Marktführer auf dem australischen Surfwear-Markt geworden. In Europa war die Etablierung der Marke zwar komplizierter, aber 1992 gewann sie schließlich in Hossegor den Tag. Unter dem Namen "Rip Curl" vertrieben, erlangte sie im folgenden Jahr ihre Unabhängigkeit zurück. Lies mehr über das Billabong-Abenteuer........

Fortsetzung des Abenteuers der Bekleidungsmarke Billabong:
Billabong wurde im Jahr 2000 an die Börse gebracht. Die Gruppe, die heute als GSM bekannt ist, hat sich stark diversifiziert und 2001 beispielsweise Von Zipper Sonnenbrillen und Element, die führende Skatewear-Marke in den USA, übernommen. Im Jahr 2004 wurden die Honolua Surf Company und Kustom Schuhe zurückgekauft, während Nixon Watches 2006 zur Billabong-Gruppe kam.

Während der Badeanzug sein Flaggschiff bleibt, bietet die Marke auch eine schöne Kollektion für den Wintersport an, darunter Billabong Skihosen und Skijacken. Die weniger sportlichen und urbanen Menschen können den Stil der Marke durch T-Shirts und Pullover weiterhin tragen.
